Washington State has over 43,000 acres of wine producing grapes and these vineyards produce approximately 160,000 tons of grapes annually. There are over 700 wineries located in the Evergreen State that produce over 11 million cases of wine per year. That is alot of wine and is only 2nd to the state of California. Washington provides an average of 17.4 hours of sunlight per day in the summer months which allows over 30 different types of wine to be produced. Hard to believe for a state known for its rain huh? But it is true according to the Washington Wine News. Wine production and grape growing has had such an influence, that the economic impact has become an over 3 billion dollar industry. So if you are planning a trip to Washington this year be sure to visit one of the tasting rooms, grape grower farms or even one of the many wineries located throughout the state both in the East side of the Cascade Mountains and on the West side of the mountains.
