"Convenient, relaxing, great breakfast My wife and I had never been to a bed and breakfast before and weren’t sure what to expect. The hosts Shelly and Mark were very welcoming and informative about the area. They were a great resource of information about the park and things to do. Shelly made an amazing homecooked breakfast every morning and was also a great conversationalist. After a long day hiking, I sat on the wrap-around porch and read while the sound of crickets filled the air. The occasional elk bugle in the distance reiterated the fact we were as close to nature as one can get without the hassle of tents. We would highly recommend this place to couples who want a relaxing place to stay after days full of adventures exploring Mount Rainier National Park."

"Wonderful! I booked at the B&B and am so glad that I did. It was very convenient to the Carbon and Mowich entrances. Shelly knew we were heading out early and packed us a breakfast to go and wow, what a breakfast. We were fueled for a full day hike. Beautiful scenery and a soft bed to come back to. "Great stay in a great place! My husband and I came out to hike the trails at Mount Rainier. The location is so convenient and straight down the road from one of the entrances to the park. "Lovely place! We booked the John Wayne room - it was nicely decorated, walked out to a deck, had a private bathroom with double vanities and a large jacuzzi tub. But our favorite part of this bed and breakfast was the FOOD and the hosts! They were very warm and welcoming and made us feel like family. I felt the need to help with dishes, but Shelley reminded me that I was a "guest". :) The breakfasts were excellent quality, perfect quantity and the presentation was fascinating. I would come back here to visit in a heartbeat if I'm ever in the area again. Shelley and Mark definitely know how to put travelers at ease."

"Great place to stay! We had a lovely time here. We have never been to Mt Rainier and we wanted to experience the best hikes. The entrance near Carbonado is worth doing because it is off the beaten path. If you like beauty but want more of a secluded experience then this is a great place to experience Mt Rainier. Shelley is the best host and she will make your stay a welcome one! The bed and breakfast experience is a bargain and the best part? You will meet other people who are enjoying Mt. Rainier and share stories!"

"Lebevoll geführtes B&B Wir verbrachten im September dieses Jahres 2 Nächte in dieser schön gelegenen Unterkunft unmittelbar am Eingang zum Mount Rainier Nationalpark. Das B&B ist somit der ideale Ausgangsort für Wanderungen und Ausflüge dorthin. Carbonado an sich ist ein verschlafener Ort mit ca. 650 Einwohnern, das B&B das letzte Haus im Ort vor dem Nationalparkeingang. Die Besitzer Shelley und Mark sind phantastische Gastgeber, vor allem Shelley organisiert hervorragend und ist rund um die Uhr für die Gäste da. Morgens zaubert sie ein leckeres, abwechslungsreiches Frühstück und gibt gute Tipps für Erkundigungen der Gegend. Besonders imponiert hat uns die Tasache, das Shelley obwohl noch berufstätig ruhig, gelassen und souverän das B&B geleitet hat. Mit Shelley konnte man sich zudem wunderbar unterhalten, wir hatten nie das Gefühl das dies aus Höflichkeit den Gästen gegenüber aufgesetzt war, sondern das sie aus Interesse am "Leben ihrer Gäste teilhaben wollte". Shelley führt dieses Gästehaus aus dem tiefsten Herzen, voller Liebe und Überzeugung, wir haben uns wie zuhause bei der Mama gefühlt :-) !!! "Perfect Romantic Getaway We had a great stay here on Valentine's day after a day of skiing at Crystal. Reading by the fire with a glass of wine in the spacious log-cabin feeling common area to unwind, followed by a Jacuzzi bath was the perfect way to finish the day. Shelley and Mark's awesome hospitality was a treat, as was the delicious breakfast. Would love to come back again."

"Whoop! My wife and I had a wonderful stay with Shelley and Mark! Their home is cozy, welcoming, and has a ton of common space to lounge in (with a fireplace, couches, and a kitchen!). It feels like a rustic log home but with the amenities all included. Beautiful space, and it's really close to the national park (which is awesome). We definitely recommend it!"

"Wonderful Stay We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Shelley and Mark are wonderful hosts. They made many suggestions for things to see and do and all of them were awesome. The house and rooms are beautiful and spotless. Very welcoming. Shelley is a great cook too- really enjoyed the breakfasts! The view for the porch is great and the proximity to 2 entrances of Mt. Rainier National Park is a big plus. We originally booked for one night, but ended up staying two and would have stayed a third if a room had been available."

"Hospitality at its finest This B&B was so comfortable and inviting that we could have stayed a lot longer. Shelley was a fantastic host. She welcomed us warmly, cooked really awesome & generous breakfast (thanks for the mushrooms!) and was always up for a chat when time was available. The house overall was quite impressive. With its open design, it offered plenty of space to relax, read or whatever you might be up to. Our room was airy with lots of natural light and big enough for tons of luggage. All was spotless and well maintained. Thanks again for having us, we had a wonderful time !"

"Terrific Bed and Breakfast! This was an amazing stay with amazing owners. Shelly and Mark who run this built it front the ground up with the intention of a bed and breakfast. The place is quaint, clean, and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious! And this is the only B&B right at the carbon entrance to Rainer National Park (the best entrance). I highly recommend staying there!"

"Charming This little gem is in a little town very close to the northwest entrance to mt ranier national park! We stayed for only one night but I wished we could have stayed longer! It's a beautiful new 3 story ranch style home. The owners live on the first floor and the bed and breakfast takes up the two upper floors! There is a wrap around porch and a sweet little fireplace in the common sitting area. The private rooms are clean and very quaint with the MoST comfortable bed sheets I have ever felt!!! Shelley the owner was very sweet and accommodating and made us a delicious breakfast in the morning! I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to all my friends and would love a chance to stay there again!"

"Very high class B&B We loved our one night stay in the garden room at Shady Rest. Shelly is a wonderful, genuine host. She met us when we arrived with cold lemonade and cookies, and plenty of local attraction advice. We had the place to ourselves during our mid-week stay, the breakfast on the deck was incredible, and the horses were friendly. Tater the dog, hummingbirds, and beautiful scenery all contributed to a great stay."

"Awesome Bed and Breakfast near Mt. Rainier We stayed two nights and loved it. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy. We enjoyed the home feeling. Shelley made breakfast for us both mornings and it was terrific. She asked us about dietary needs and tailored her breakfasts around my Gluten Free need. It was great to have home-like breakfast chatter as well. We highly recommend it!"

"What a find! What a beautiful bnb in an off the beaten track location, the last stop before the Carbon River entrance of Mt. Rainier National Park. Wonderfully decorated with a large modern kitchen, great bathrooms, and a high wooden beamed ceiling over an open floor plan. We felt like we were in our own vacation home. Hosts Shelley and Mark are great people. Carbonado is tiny with one restaurant and no stores, but the next towns of Burnett and Wilkeson have coffee shops-- just a couple of minutes away. For more facilities, Enumclaw and Bonney Lake are some 20 minutes away. It's an hour to the next Mt. Rainier entrance to reach Sunrise."

Shelly and Mark are very welcoming, and Shelly stays n top of B&B trends and so you can be sure you'll have a top-notch experience here.
